Joe Simpson

Joe Simpson, of Stinnett, Kentucky, departed this walk of life on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the St. Joseph Hospital - East in Lexington, KY at the age of 78 years, 06 months and 18 days. He was born July 31, 1938 in Helton, Kentucky to the union of the late George and Linda Gilbert Simpson. Joe was a life-long resident of Leslie County and by occupation he was a lumber mill worker. He also worked many years for Eddie J. Moore. Joe was a people person and loved talking with others. He enjoyed gardening and working around the church. He was a long-time member of the Stinnett Church of Christ and was also affiliated with the Essie Christian Missionary Alliance. In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by one brother, Robert Simpson, one sister, Helen Caldwell and one infant brother.

Joe leaves behind, his loving and devoted wife, Jean Simpson of Stinnett, KY, two brothers: Gilbert Simpson of London, KY and Ace Simpson of Hyden, KY, three sisters: Goldie Brown of Stinnett, KY, Betty Jean Wilson (Vernon) of Asher, KY and Lena Mae House (Leonard) of London, KY; Other survivors include, special friends: Kevin Rogers, who was like a son to him and Jean, Steve Howard, Diane Vanover, and Mary Brown; Charlotte, Beth and Carol with Home Health whom the family appreciates.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Todd Billingsley, Keith Bowling, and Robert Lee Hacker officiating. The obituary will be read by friend, Kevin Rogers. The interment will follow the services at the Simpson Family Cemetery at Stinnett, KY. Friends may gather for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
