Mr. Ray Caney Dotson ‚age 82 passed away at Hopkin's Nursing Home in Woodburn Kentucky on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at 8:11 PM after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Mr. Dotson was known by many as
Daddy, Papaw, Uncle, Brother, RC, but his caregivers at the nursing home named him "Mr. Casanova."
RC was born in Dean, Tennessee on August 22,1940 to the late Ray Dotson & Mildred (Phillips) Dotson. He proceeded in death by his first wife Phyllis (Osborne) Dotson, who was the mother of his children. Sisters: Justine (Johnie) Patton, Irene (Curtis) Melton, Nephew Derek Melton, Shirley (Bascomb) Dotson his wife of 32 years.
RC is survived by his son, Randy (Peggy) Dotson of Defuniak Springs, Florida, as well as his daughter, Michelle (Robert) Mayhall of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
He is also survived by two sisters, Lorene Crider of Michigan and Gale Dodson of Michigan, two brothers, Eddie & Freddie Dodson of Michigan, one stepsister Rita Hoskins-ling of Florida, one stepdaughter Bonnie Kirksey of Michigan. RC'S Legacy lives on in his 2 grandchildren Ryley (Bayley) Mayhall of Columbus Indiana and Ari Montana (Nathan) Cherry of Franklin, Kentucky.
Three great-grandchildren: Hayden Marie, Bryson, Gavyn Mayhall. Host of nieces and nephews.
He has an Extended set of Grand kids, Bridgett Frazier, Nicholas Kirksey, Melissa (Reggie) Busby, Ashley Frazier, Brooklyn Busby, Alyssa Laforge, Atlas Wiggens. Anthony Gail.
RC was a retired over the road trucker, having spent many years behind the wheel of his 18-wheeler hauling coils of steel. He was known as the Gypsy of the family and led his family across the country from Detroit, Ohio, Texas, finally to Glen, Mississippi as he pursued work in the trucking industry. Out of all the places he traveled, Glen, Mississippi with it's small -town charm was where RC called "HOME."
Funeral service for Ray Dotson will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 20th, 2023, at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Brian Hubbard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Melton Cemetery in Wooton, Ky.
The Family will receive friends for visitation from 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 pm at the funeral home chapel.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
