Angela Woods was born September 06, 1964 in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Carl and Ocie Gibson Woods.
Angela had an impressive career in banking, spanning almost 36 years. Beginning just months following her college graduation in 1988, she began working at Hyden Citizens Bank in Hyden Kentucky and over the next 9 years, held almost every position within the bank from teller to Branch Manager.
In 1997, she was promoted to the holding company, Middlefork Financial Group, and by 1999 was the Vice President and Compliance Officer. During this time in her career, she attended the well-respected Louisiana State University Graduate School of Banking and received her diploma in 2004.
Over the next several years, her role would grow and transition to Internal Audit and Technology. Angie would serve in this vitally important role until she was asked to become the President and CEO of Farmers State Bank, Inc. in Booneville Kentucky in 2014. Angie worked very hard to accomplish this personal goal of becoming a bank President and was proud of this role yet not in a boisterous manner but in her signature humble approach. She never considered a job “beneath her” and was always, always willing to lend a helping hand where it was needed.
She was a team player and, if she was on your team, you had a loyal, dedicated person who would work tirelessly until the job was done and done correctly. She was known as a very fair and consistent leader. A great defender of her employees, she took the role of their leader very seriously, often worrying about their needs above her own. She led by example, and it showed in everything she accomplished but, more importantly, it is this example of what a leader should be that will remain with the company, her employees and fellow co-workers whom she spent so many dedicated years with.
Aside from her work, Angie had many hobbies that brought her immense joy. She enjoyed traveling, and was an avid collector of baskets, purses and knives; she had a vast collection which she took pride in. She was also a skilled photographer and enjoyed capturing life’s greatest moments. Above all, Angela cherished the time spent with her beloved nieces, Elizabeth and Sarah.
Angela departed this walk of life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at the Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky. Angela was 59 years old.
