Betty Jean Roberts

Betty Jean Roberts was born November 13, 1931 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of Florence Lewis Morgan and the late Bige Morgan. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Rod Roberts on March 01, 1958. By occupation, Betty was an administrative Secretary, retiring from the Leslie County - Kentucky River District Health Department in Hyden, Kentucky. Betty was a life-long member of the Hyden Baptist Church where she devoted more than 40 years teaching Sunday School. In formative years, Betty was very active on numerous boards, including: Frontier Advisory Board, Leslie County Development Association and the Leslie County Blood Drive Center (Central Kentucky Blood Center). Betty took great pride in all that she did, but most importantly, Betty had a great love for children. She especially cherished her children and grandchildren. Betty was a loving & devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and church member. She enjoyed attending church, gardening, reading and birds. Betty went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 02, 2015 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her father, Bige Morgan; her husband, Rod Roberts on November 04, 1970; sister, Colene Morgan.

Betty leaves surviving to cherish her memory, her beloved mother, Florence Lewis Morgan of Hyden, KY; two loving and devoted daughters: Susan C. Wilder (Donnie), and Martha L. Couch (Jerry), both of Hyden, KY; one brother, Sam Morgan (Kathy) of Hyden, KY; one sister, Christine Morris of Greenville, TN; eight cherished grandchildren: Christy, Whitney, Lauren, Jon, Jennifer, Nick, Leah and Kaitlin; one great-grandchild: Noah; A host of nieces, nephews, other family, church family and friends also survive.

Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 05, 2015 at the Hyden Baptist Church with Roger Wolfe and Eric Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewis - Chappell Cemetery at Hyden, KY. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., Tuesday in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with additional services at 7:00 P.M.
