Billie Roberts

Billie "Bill" Roberts, of Essie, Ky was born January 23, 1939 in Leslie County to the late Henry and Essie Bowling Roberts.  Bill lived a life marked with adventure, hard work and dedication to his family.

Bill was a retired coal miner by occupation.  In his time away from work he enjoyed all things outdoors.  He engaged in riding four wheelers and seeing all of the beauty that nature had to offer.   He was an avid hunter, especially taking joy in squirrel and turkey hunting.  He was a skilled woodworker, known for making turkey calls, trinket boxes, shelving, and little log cabins.   T

The annual camping trip with his close buddies was one of the highlights of Bill's year that he looked so forward to.  Being in the outdoors, with people he loved most, fellowship, and good food.  He also took great interest in being involved in the "Wildlife Day" at Stinnett Pentecostal Church.  Many times, peeling potatoes for hours on end!  

Pocket knives were a special part of Bill's life.  He was a knife collector and often times he could be found on his porch sharpening his knives.

Bill was of the Pentecostal faith, and devoted member of the Stinnett Pentecostal Church.  

He passed peacefully on July 27, 2026.  He was 87.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a daughter Glenda Roberts Fields, two brothers Oscar "Ott" Roberts and James "Buck" Roberts.  As well as one sister Lola Grace Osborne.

Bill leaves behind two sons Billie Roberts, Jr. of Hoskinston, Ky and Christopher Roberts (BJ) of London, Ky;  His special companion Wilma Roberts of Essie, Ky; One brother Roger Roberts (Teresa) of Essie, Ky; One sister Betty Jo Roberts of London, Ky; Three cherished grandchildren Andrea Collett (Joe) of Essie, Ky, Bobby Roberts of London, Ky, and Sheldon Roberts (Mandy) of Chappell, Ky; A great granddaughter Isabella Roberts;  Special nephew Terry Roberts, Special niece Sandra Pugh (John).  A host of other cherished relatives and friends also mourn his passing.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation for his special caregivers Tina Maggard, Candice Morgan, Trina Morgan, Amanda Howard, and Edith Spurlock.

The funeral service to commemorate the life of Billie Roberts will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 01, 2026 at Stinnett Pentecostal Church with Rev. James Bowling, Jr., Rev. John Pugh, and Rev. Patrick Morgan officiating.

The interment will follow the service at the Lee Morgan Cemetery at Essie, Ky with Dwight Morgan, Ben Pugh, Coy Asher, Rodney Osborne, Bobby Roberts, Sheldon Roberts, and Terry Roberts serving as pallbearers.

Friends and family may gather for visitation from 12 Noon until the service hour at 2pm - Saturday at the Stinnett Pentecostal Church.
