Mr. Carl R. Morgan was born March 07, 1927. The Lord called him home on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 8 days. Carl was born in Leslie County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Will and Sarah Ellen Baker Morgan. Carl grew up in Hyden, KY; However, as a teen he often worked in Dayton, OH. At the age of 18 he went into the Army where he became a Sereant in the 25th Army Constabulary. Carl was a Veteran of World War II and a Disabled American Veteran. Carl was proud of his service to the our country. After serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, he returned to Dayton and married his sweetheart on February 21, 1947. He and his wife Imogene Hignite Morgan were married for 62 years. They had three daughters: Victoria L. Morgan, Sarah Susan Morgan and Carla R. Morgan. Carl was an exemlary husband and father who always put his family first. Professionally, Carl studied Engineering at University of Dayton and worked for General Motors for 30 years where he was instrumental in designing the combination valve system for the disk brake. His hobbies were working on Automobiles, Coho fishing with his brother Ted, growing a beautiful garden; but most of all he enjoyed his family, his church and to be around people. After retirement he and his wife Imogene resided in Lakeland, FL, but eventually returned to the beloved plave of his birth. Carl was honored when he received the highest tribute awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, that of a Kentucky Colonel. Carl was preceded in death by his mother and father; His mother and father-in-law: Jasper and Susie Hignite; Sisters: Ethel Morgan, Fay Hensley and Marie Rowland; Brother-in-laws: Shelby Asher, Mark Hensley and Emory Stidham. Mr. Carl Morgan leaves the following relatives surviving: His Loving and devoted wife; his three daughters; his three grandchldren: Lorisa Motko, Morgan Echols and Christopher Morgan Birosak; his brother Ted Morgan and wife Bertha; Sisters: Bernice Asher and Gladys Stidham; Brother-in-law: Jack Rowland; as well as his brother and sister-in-laws: Roy and Bobbie Hignite and Ivan and Beulah Thomas. Carl also leaves behind many treasured nieces, nephews and friends. All of Carl's family was very special to him and was very special to everyone.
