Daisy Sizemore Howard was born in Hyden, Kentucky on December 10, 1918. She was born to the union of the late Jimmy & Georgiana Sizemore. She was united in marriage to Estill Howard in 1935.
Daisy worked as a cook in the Leslie County School System and was a beloved homemaker. Daisy was a member of the Thousandsticks United Methodist Church and a former member of the Rockhouse Baptist Church. She was also a former member of the Leslie County Disabled American Veterans.
Daisy enjoyed life and she loved to travel. She had a love for Bluegrass and Gospel music, animals, sewing and cooking. Above all, Daisy cherished the time spent with her family and friends. Throughout Daisy’s life, she saw many changes in the world around her. One thing remained the same, her unwavering faith in God.
Daisy departed this walk of life on Friday, February 19, 2021. She was blessed with 102 years of life.
In addition to her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Estill Howard; one son, Arlen Dean Howard; brothers, Keen Sizemore & wife, Midge, Don Sizemore & wife, Fanny and McKinley Sizemore; one infant brother, Please Sizemore; sisters, Nancy Sizemore, Molly Sizemore Jones & husband, Abijah, Mae Sizemore, Grace Couch & husband, Letcher, and one brother-in-law, Paul Jones.
Daisy leaves surviving her beloved children; two sons, Mickey Ray Howard & Carolyn of Hyden, KY and Danny Howard & Brenda of Maryville, TN; two daughters, Belinda Gail Napier of LaFollette, TN and Cathie Ann Howard of Berea, KY; one brother, Paul Couch & Faye of Hyden, KY; two sisters, Anna Carol Jones and Sylvia Napier & Otis, both of Hyden, KY; one sister-in-law, Mary Sizemore; eight cherished grandchildren, Tonya Collett, Travis Napier, Tammy Melton, Danielle Turner, Freddie Allen Chappell, Leigh Ann Tincher, Wendy Dawn Hutchinson and Mickey Dean Howard; seventeen cherished great-grandchildren and two cherished great-great grandchildren; special friends, Bess Pace, Mary Coots and John Newell; her cat “Fluffy” that stayed with her until her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. - Sunday in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating and memories shared & words of comfort by Ronnie Wells, John Newell and Robert Amundsen Interment will follow in the Steele Cemetery at Hyden with Travis Napier, Freddie Allen Chappell, Mickey Dean Howard, Sheryl Dean Sizemore, Jake Tincher, Seth Allen Melton, Caleb Owens and Jaxon Tincher serving as pallbearers. The Howard family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
