Obituary

Daniel Lewis,79, of Yeaddiss, KY, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, in Berea, Kentucky. Born on March 23, 1947, in Lewis Creek to the union of the late Henry and Beatrice Lewis.

An experienced mechanic by trade, Daniel’s skill and dedication were evident to all who knew him. Beyond working as a mechanic, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the outdoors and the peace it brought to him. He was a talented musician, playing the guitar and singing. Those who spent time with Daniel fondly remembered that “he never turned down a good breakfast,” a simple testament to his warm and approachable nature. He enjoyed life to the fullest, sharing his kindness with friends and family alike.

Daniel was a proud Kentucky Colonel and an active member of the Elk’s Lodge, affiliations that reflected his commitment to service and community. He was steadfast in his faith, and attending church was among his proudest accomplishments.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Patricia Gabbard to whom he wed in Lexington, Kentucky on August 27, 1967; two sons, Daniel Wayne Lewis and his wife Elaine of Berea, Kentucky, and Christopher Henry Lewis and his wife Janet of Dayton, Ohio. Daniel was also a treasured brother to Delphia Stidham and her husband Ronnie of Lexington, Kentucky, and Dorothy Lewis of Stanford, Kentucky. He was the proud grandfather to his three cherished grandchildren: Rebecca Denise Lewis of Dayton, Ohio, Heather Erin Lewis of Berea, Kentucky, and El Lewis of Berea, Kentucky. Among those who held a special place in his heart was his dear friend Chuck Coots of Yeaddiss, Kentucky.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Beatrice Lewis, as well as his brother David Lewis.

Family, faith, music, and the simple joys of life were the pillars of Daniel's life.
