David Charles Woods

December 24, 1960 — March 21, 2017

David Charles Woods, 56 of Cincinnati, OH departed this life on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was born in Dayton to the union of Charles Woods and the late Ramona Hensley Woods. He was raised in Springboro, Ohio. He taught at New Miami Elementary School in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Springboro High School in 1979 and attended the University of Cumberlands (formerly Cumberland College) in Williamsburg, Kentucky. He graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After a career of teaching elementary school in Ohio, he enjoyed early retirement before his untimely death. As an active member of the Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, Ohio, he served as an ordained deacon and Christian educator. His gifts were many including gourmet cooking, volunteering for special church projects (i.e. archive work), and hosting coffee hours. He was very talented and enjoyed flower arranging for church and hospice. One of his greatest gifts was his compassion and care for others, especially to the elderly, shut ins and neighbors. Some of David's varied interests included master gardening, upholstery, interior decorating, and house renovation. He was a general "just fix-it" kind of guy. He enjoyed domestic and international travel. He loved the theater and volunteered at Playhouse in the Park. He always dressed for occasions with themes and costumes. David was a loving son, caring brother, awesome uncle, terrific school teacher and a great best friend to many.

David was preceded in death by his mother, Ramona Hensley Woods.

David leaves behind his beloved father, Charles Woods and step-mother, Audrey of Oneida, Kentucky, a brother, Phillip Woods of Merced, California, two cherished nieces, Elizabeth and Eleanor Woods, sister-in-law, Kelly Woods, and step siblings, Lorie Carpenter, Sherman Garringer and Michael Garringer. A host of other family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in the Woods Cemetery at Sizerock, Kentucky.
