Doyle Collett

Doyle Collett was born on December 6th, 1948 in Asher, KY, and departed this life on Monday, April 6th, 2026, at his home in Zionsville, Indiana. He was 77 years of age.

Doyle was the son of the late Reverend Elmer Collett and the late Delora Mosley Collett. He taught at Leslie County High School, worked as a salesman for Thompson Supply, then worked for Shamrock Coal Company until he retired. He was also a member of the Bowens Creek United Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was his wife of 44 years. Kay Collett and his grandson, Jordyn Lewis, his unborn granddaughter, Mercy Grace Browning, and his unborn Grandson, Corey Antone Burns. Six siblings, Earl Collett, Pauline Collett, Edith Collett, Kenneth, Susie Holland, and Freddy Joe Collett.

He leaves surviving his two beloved Daughters, Carmen Collett Shah ( With whom he had lived the past seven years of his life), and Husband Junaid of Zionsville, IN, and Tonya Collett of Yeaddiss, KY.

Grandchildren: Evan Tate Browning and wife Katarina, Lance Browning, Hope Ashakur and Husband Oodi, and Lauren Faith Burns and Eero Shah, and one great-granddaughter, Aneira Graceland Browning, all from Zionsville, IN. Also surviving are six siblings: Fern Maxwell of Jacksboro, TN; John Collett and Carolyn of London, KY; Marcus Collett and Emily of Roark, KY; and Joyce Hunley and Eugine of Essie, KY. Geral Collett and Mason of Essie, KY, and Rosetta Sizemore of Barborville, KY. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. Along with other friends and relatives, to mourn his passing.

Doyle enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and making people laugh with his humorous personality. In his younger years, he was nicknamed Oscar Robinson for his great basketball skills. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral service to commemorate the life of Mr. Doyle Collett will be held Thursday, April 09, 2026 at 2p.m. at the Bowen's Creek United Baptist Church at Essie, KY with Taylor Adams and Carl Brown officiating.

Interment will follow at the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY with Junaid Shah Evan Tate Browning, Lance Browning, Oodi Ashakur, David Collett, Jamie Collett, Eric Collett, Allen Hunley serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers: Keith Collett, Paul Sizemore, and Tim Sizemore.

Friends and family may gather for visitation on Thursday from 12p.m. until the service hour at 2p.m. at the church.Interment will follow the service at the Collett Cemetery at Essie, KY. with
