Edsel F. Roark, born on January 3, 1930, in Roark, Kentucky, to the late Charlie and Lucy Smith Roark, passed away peacefully at his home in Roark, Kentucky, on September 24, 2025. Edsel lived a life filled with dedication, loyalty, and compassion, embodying the essence of a jolly and outspoken individual who touched the lives of many.
He had a distinguished career at General Motors Company, which Edsel joined at a very young age, dedicating countless years to the automotive industry. His commitment to his work was just one aspect of his rich and varied life. Alongside his professional endeavors, he served as an ordained Baptist minister, playing an instrumental role in establishing numerous churches in the Dayton, Ohio area. This vocation was a reflection of his deep love for the Lord, which resonated within him throughout his lifetime.
Edsel was a talented musician and singer, able to play nearly any instrument he touched. His love for music brought joy to those around him, and he often shared this passion with family and friends. An avid lover of animals, particularly dogs, Edsel demonstrated a profound kindness and respect for animals
He had a keen interest in politics and loved engaging in discussions about current affairs, particularly enjoying conversations surrounding figures such as Donald Trump.
Edsel is survived by his one son, Tim Roark of Eaton, Ohio; his sister, Sophia Reed of Lebanon, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, other family members, and friends who will miss him dearly. He also leaves behind special friends and caretakers, Ben and Brittany Mosley, of Roark, Kentucky.
He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his first wife, Mallie Hoskins Roark; his second wife, Vina Osborne Collett Roark; a son, Rick; a daughter, Carol; and a host of brothers and sisters, all of whom he cherished deeply.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Asher Cemetery in Katie's Creek at Roark, Kentucky. Following the services he will be laid to rest.
