Elsie Maggard Baker

Elsie Maggard Baker was born on November 10, 1929 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Gordon and Florence Maggard. Elsie departed this walk of life on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Hazard A.R.H. Medical Center at the age of 85. She was a life-long resident of Leslie County, and by occupation, Elsie was a retired merchant clerk, having worked at Keen's Variety Store in Hyden, KY. She was a dedicated Christian and a faithful member of the Muncy Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, working in her flowers, meeting and talking with people and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Florence Lewis Maggard; her loving husband, Edd Baker; one daughter: Charlene Napier; three brothers: Oley, Coye, and Lonzo Maggard; one sister: Eeldie Maggard; one grandson: Jeffery Allen Sizemore.

Elsie leaves surviving, three daughters: Anna Sizemore (Vernon) of Hyden, KY, Phyllis Napier of Dayton, OH and Connie Napier (David) of Thousandsticks, KY; three sisters: Delsie Adams of Cinda, KY, Elva Bentley (Bonnell) of Wooton, KY and Betty Day (David) of Smilax, KY; one brother: James Maggard (Mallie) of Cinda, KY; her beloved grandchildren: Roy Edford Napier, Troy Randall Napier, Charles Vernon Sizemore, Rhonda Martin and Robyn Napier; great grandchildren: Austin Sizemore, Tiffany Kilburn, Amanda Bailey, Troy Christian Napier, Karley Napier, Emily Napier, Drew Napier, Kate Napier, Ivy Napier, Brandon Ashton, Justyce Byrd and Joshua Byrd; great-great grandchildren: Kyleigh Napier, Easton Kilburn and Alexis Bailey; A host of cherished relatives, church family and friends also survive her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 16, 2015 in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe and Rev. Richard Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker - Hensley Cemetery at Cinda, KY with the following serving as pallbearers: Roy Edford Napier, Troy Randall Napier, Troy Christian Napier, Austin Sizemore, Brandon Ashton, and Drew Napier. The family will receive friends for visitation from 1:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Saturday at the funeral home chapel.
