Eugene Bailey was born in Perry County on October 10, 1945 to the union of the late Bill and Judy Bailey. Eugene had been a life-long resident of Delphia, KY and by occupation, he was a retired coal miner, employed by Harlan Cumberland Coal Company. He was united in marriage to Donna M. Fields Baley on July 13, 1995. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was a beloved and faithful member of the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, KY. He was a beloved papaw, loving husband and daddy. He was a man of faith and had a heart for serving the Lord. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music.
Eugene departed this life on Tuesday, May 03, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Eugene was 76 years old.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by one son, Michael Bailey, two brothers, James Bailey and Boyd “Bill” Bailey and one sister, Ferby Boggs.
Eugene leaves surviving: his loving and devoted wife, Donna Fields Bailey of Delphia, KY; three beloved daughters, Diane Bailey of Jeff, KY, Donna J. Fields (Michael) of Wooton, KY and Karen L. Miles (Jeremy) of Whitesburg, KY; two brothers, Dan Bailey (Mable) of Hazard, KY and Edward Bailey (Lisa) of Wooton, KY; four sisters, Alpha Mays of Cumberland, KY, Alma Suffaridge of Leatherwood, KY, Thelma Campbell of Delphia, KY and Ethel Turner of Leatherwood, KY; three cherished grandchildren, Michaela Rose Gipson (Marcus), Isaac Miles and Luke Allen Miles; special friends, his pastor, Billy Joe Lewis, Hershel & Ann Pennington, Jimmy & Regina Niece, Willy Ray Gilbert, Earnest Kilburn, James Kilburn, Susie Hensley and Thelma Day. A host of nieces & nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. – Saturday at the Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ at Smilax, KY with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow in the Full Gospel Church Cemetery at Smilax, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6p.m. – 9p.m., Friday evening at the church.
