Evelyn Mae Heidebrecht was born May 10, 1922, in Hydro, Montana. She departed this walk of life on Sunday, March 06, 2022, in Manchester, Kentucky. Evelyn was 99 years old.
Evelyn was the daughter of the late Daniel C. Heidebrecht and the late Katherine Janzen Heidebrecht. She was the second child in a family of six, four of whom lived into their 90’s. In 1939, the family moved from their farm in Chinook, Montana to Corn, Oklahoma, where she graduated from high school in 1940. She worked as an assistant to Dr. Fred Schlinchting for several years. From 1953 to 1955, Evelyn attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. There, she met Lorraine Kuhns, R.N. and the two of them came to serve the Cutshin Bible Mission.
Evelyn came to the Cutshin Bible Mission in 1955 and assisted the nurses in the clinic until its closure in 2017. She was an excellent cook and hostess.
As a member of the Cutshin Bible Church, she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and conducted Daily Vacation Bible School. Miss Heide visited the Leslie County Elementary Schools with Bible lessons for almost 50 years. She was also active at Camp Nathaniel. In former years, she represented Leslie County Ministerial Association, and completed any task asked of her.
Her dedication and genuine concern to the people of Leslie County and surrounding areas will forever be treasured.
In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brother, Ervin, Sister, Erna and a niece, Linda Klepper.
Evelyn leaves behind, her brother, Robert Heidebrecht, two sisters, Norma Carolyn and Marilyn Beuchaw; three nephews, Daniel Heidebrecht & Suzanne Heinrichs, Brian & Sharon Beuchaw, Craig & Melody Beuchaw; nieces, Karen & Rob Gentry, Cecelia & Jim Hunter, Lorelei Rhoads & Katrina Holt. Evelyn is also survived by her cherished friend and coworker of 57 years, Barbara French.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. – Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the Cutshin Bible Church with Tony Little officiating.
The interment will follow the services at the Cutshin Bible Church Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY.
Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the church.
Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
