Obituary

Geneva Williams Boggs, age 90, of Polls Creek Road in Smilax, Kentucky, passed peacefully from this life on November 8, 2025, at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky—just one day before her 91st birthday.

Born on November 9, 1934, in Leslie County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Oley and Mollie Williams. Geneva was a lifelong resident of Leslie County, where her roots and her heart were deeply planted.

On November 17, 1952, Geneva married the love of her life, Willie Boggs, and together they built a beautiful life centered around faith, family, and unconditional love. Geneva was a devoted wife and a selfless mother who poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting smell of home-cooked meals, the sound of laughter, and the kind of love that made everyone feel welcome.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Geneva took pride in caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, watching them grow and thrive. She was their biggest cheerleader, their comfort in hard times, and their favorite babysitter. Her gentle spirit, nurturing heart, and soft-spoken wisdom made her the steady foundation of her family. She was always ready with a listening ear, an encouraging word, or a hug that made everything feel right again.

Geneva enjoyed the simple pleasures in life — tending to her garden, canning summer’s bounty, and sewing with care and creativity. But more than anything, she treasured time spent surrounded by the people she loved most. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and the light of her life.

In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie Boggs; three brothers, Jack, Donald, and Ben Williams; four sisters, Sancie Bowling, Eula Wells, Elsie Wells, and Darcus Jean Williams; and a granddaughter, Savannah Boggs.

She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory:

Her brother, Ken Williams of Smilax, KY;

Her sons, Glenn Boggs and wife Debbie of Smilax, KY, Rick Boggs and wife Robin of Hyden, KY, and Jeff Boggs of Science Hill, KY;

Her daughters, Glenna Pratt and husband John, and Rebecca Maggard and husband Wayne, both of London, KY;

Six cherished grandchildren: Natasha Gay and husband Wendall, Whitney Fugate and husband Jay, Tori Baker and husband Chuck, Hannah Smith and husband Jared, Brent Pratt and wife Liz, and Emily Pratt and fiancé Brian Ritchie.

Three adored great-grandchildren: Hayden Gay, Marlie Fugate, and Lillian Fugate;

And a special niece, Shirley Dowling—along with a host of other family and dear friends.

The funeral service to commemorate the life of Geneva Boggs will be held at 1p.m. - Monday, November 10th, 2025 from the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Danny Day and Harold Day officiating.

Following the service, Geneva will be laid to rest with her husband, Willie, at the KY Veterans Cemetery Southeast in Hyden, KY.

Friends and family may gather for visitation from 12 noon until the service hour at 1p.m. - Monday at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Chapel.

Geneva’s family extends their deepest gratitude to The Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center for their kindness, care, and compassion during her final days.

To honor Geneva’s memory, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to The Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in her name.

Geneva’s love and warmth will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Though she is gone from our sight, her presence will remain in every loving memory, every kind word, and every gentle act of care — the true legacy of her beautiful life.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home
