Gladys Carol Colwell, age 79, ended her battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, Kentucky. Carol was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed crafting, spending time with her grandchildren and her occasionally appreciative cat. Carol was a member of the Confluence Baptist Church.
Carol was born in Typo, KY on August 22, 1942 to the late Crusoe and Ella Baker. She was preceded in death by her six brothers (Elmer, Wilson, Jack, Harold, Amos and Nicholas Baker) and her sister Betty Jo Stull. Carol was also preceded in death by her great granddaughter Jocie Hughes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Green Colwell. Carol is also survived by her daughter Penny, (Mike) Easley, and son Kenneth (Kate) Colwell. Grandchildren include: Jennifer (Brandon) Hughes, Jacob Colwell, Kylie Colwell, Marion Easley and Phoenix Easley. Great grandsons, Ty Huges and Jack Hughes. She is also survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1p.m. – Friday, April 08, 2022 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Dean Feltner and Harold Kemper officiating.
Interment will follow at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Southeast, located at 1280 KY-118, Hyden, KY
The family will receive friends for visitation from 11a.m. until the service hour at 1p.m., Friday at the chapel.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of Bluegrass Care Navigators.
