Henry Madden

Wooton, Kentucky

Henry Noah Madden, 62, of Wooton, Kentucky, departed this walk of life on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved family.

Born in Hyden, Kentucky on September 21, 1961, to the late Noah Junior Madden and the late Jenny Clark Madden.  

Henry had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and by occupation he was a retired coal miner.  He spent many years working in the coal mines to provide for his family.

Aside from the work that he loved, Henry enjoyed the outdoors; especially that of four-wheeling, fishing, and hunting ginseng.   Above all, Henry cherished his family and the time spent with them. His grandchildren were the apple of his eye.

Henry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy Lee Madden, Montgomery Madden, and Elmer Madden. 

He leaves surviving his loving and devoted wife, Kathy Madden of Wooton, KY, one son Henry Edward Madden (Tiffany) of Hyden, KY, and one daughter Joanie Ann Boggs (Allen) of Wooton, KY.  

Other survivors include one brother Chester Junior Madden of Wooton, KY.  His four cherished grandchildren Payden Madden, Hailey Boggs, Lucas Boggs, and Preston Madden.  His nieces and nephews Samantha Hays (Wayne) of Hazard, KY, Rebecca Baker of Laurel Co., KY, Steven Madden (Joanie) of Manchester, KY.  A very special niece and nephew Misty Adams of Hyden, KY, and Keith Barger of Wooton, KY.  Two special brothers-in-law Fred Kilburn of Wooton, KY and Harison Kilburn, Jr. of Hyden, KY.  A host of other family and friends also survive.   

The funeral service for Henry Madden will be held at 2p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Russell Baker and Donnie Jospeh officiating.

Interment will follow at the Hendrix Cemetery at Wooton, KY with Edward Madden, Allen Boggs, Keith Barger, Chester Madden, and Derek Combs serving as pallbearers. 

The Madden family will receive friends from 5p.m. – 9p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel.
