Irene Simpson

Irene Simpson, a beloved resident of Hyden, Kentucky, passed away on September 16, 2023, at the age of 68. She breathed her last breath at Mary Breckinridge ARH Hospital in Hyden, KY. Born on July 10, 1955, in Hyden to Elbert and Sylvania Turner Griffith, Irene's life was one filled with love and compassion. Known for her caring nature and sweet disposition, Irene was always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth and kindness shone through in every interaction she had with others. Irene held a deep love for the Lord, finding solace and guidance in her faith. Additionally, she had an unwavering affection for flowers and animals; their beauty brought her joy and peace throughout her life. Above all else, Irene cherished her family. Their bond was unbreakable, as she poured endless love into each relationship. Whoever it was Irene's devotion knew no bounds.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters, Melda Adams and June Fouts.

She leaves behind her loving & devoted husband, Courtney Simpson of Hyden, KY, two sons, Michael Simpson (Tyra) and Bobby Simpson,, who were the center of her world. The legacy of Irene's love continues through three grandsons and one granddaughter who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.  Other survivors include one sister, Cleda Joseph (Duck), one niece and two nephews and a host of other cherished family and friends.

A private funeral service for Irene Simpson at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at the Courtney and Irene Simpson Cemetery at Hyden, KY.

A private visitation will take place prior to the service.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
