James Robert Fee

James Robert Fee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 11, 2025, at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY. He was born on January 6, 1964, and lived a life marked by dedication to his family and an unwavering commitment to his work and passions.

James was a rigger for more than twenty years, currently employed by North Georgia Installation. His career spanned various roles, including welder and construction worker, during which he contributed to the construction welding of some of the tallest skyscrapers in Atlanta, GA. Known for his patience and kindness, James approached every task with a spirit of hard work and a willingness to help others.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, James was a talented harmonicist. Music was an integral part of his life, and he played with various bands throughout the years, most recently with the “Band of Brothers.” His love for music was only surpassed by his affection for his family. He cherished spending time at the lake fishing, camping, and creating lasting memories with his loved ones, particularly enjoying the company of his family and friends. 

James is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Melissa Joseph Fee of Hyden, KY; his daughter, Kelly Vines of Villa Rica, GA; his son, Tyler Fee of Knoxville, TN; and his step-son, Brandon Fields of Hyden, KY. He is also remembered by five brothers: Roscoe Fee of Benton, IL; David Fee (Monique) of Hyden, KY; John Fee (Dawn) of Hyden, KY; Eddie Fee (Missy) of Hyden, KY; and Ernest Fee of Benton, IL. His three sisters include Marylee Fields of Tampa, FL; Marlene Banks (Melvin) of Hyden, KY; and Carol Holland (Curt) of Hyden, KY. James took pride in being a grandfather to Charlotte Vines and a step-grandfather to Peyton Fields, Carson Fields, and Jamison Fields. He leaves behind special cousins and friends, Kevin Wilson and Sonya Webb, as well as dear friends Neil Parrett, Doug Napier, and the Turner family, along with a host of treasured nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and coworkers.  

James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Arlee Fee and Daisy Woods Fee; a stepdaughter, Amanda Smith; a step-granddaughter, Cassie Smith; his nephew, Ian Fee; and a brother-in-law, Willie Fields.

The funeral service to honor the life of James Robert Fee will be held at 1p.m. Friday, May 16, 2025 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Brian Hubbard officiating.

Interment will follow the service at the Woods Cemetery at Thousandsticks, KY with Paul Turner, Shannon Turner, Neil Parrett, Tyler Fee, Austin Lowe, Tony Hoskins, Brandon Fields, Roscoe Fee and A.J. Fee serving as pallbearers.

Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6p.m. until 9p.m. Thursday evening of May 15th at the funeral home chapel.
