IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jerry
Eversole
June 29, 1956 – December 18, 2025
Jerry Eversole, of Metamora, IN, former longtime resident of Hyden, KY, was born on June 29, 1956, in Confluence, Kentucky, the loving son of McGrew and Laura Rose Eversole. He married Joyce Anna Harris on June 29, 1975, in Richmond, Indiana, and together they raised three wonderful sons.
Their love story began at a young age, starting as pen pals after meeting through their older siblings. They began dating at 13 years old and remained devoted to one another throughout their lives. Jerry was a carpenter his entire life, a craft he perfected through years of hard work and dedication. Although he only completed ninth grade, he was a whiz at math, especially when it came to crunching numbers and figuring dimensions related to his work.
He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, taking great pride in making it possible for his wife to be a homemaker and care for their three boys. Jerry was the true definition of an outdoorsman. He hunted and fished all over the continental United States, from Maine to Washington State, and even made his way into Canada. Locally, he especially enjoyed wade fishing and catfishing. He was one of the most forgiving people you could ever meet, holding no grudges and willing to do anything for anyone, even if it meant putting himself out or giving away his last dollar.
He never drank, smoked, or ever thought to use a curse word that started with the letter “F.” Jerry’s greatest pride and joy in life was his family. He especially loved visiting his grandchildren, happily giving them all the money and candy he had in his pockets that day.
On Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the age of 69, Jerry passed away peacefully at home.
Those surviving who will carry Jerry’s legacy forward include his children, Jerry M. (Jessica) Eversole, Jarrod (Ryan) Eversole, and Jerricho (Crystal) Eversole; eight grandchildren, Jerry Austin, Jordan Montgomery, Jase Robert Eversole, Kara Ann Eversole, Aden Jarrod Eversole, Payton Tyler Eversole, Madison Kathern Eversole, and Dalton Jerricho Lee Eversole; as well as his siblings, Bert (Jessica) Eversole, Terry (Becky) Eversole, Terry Eversole Jr., Poshia Lewis, Reda Fugate, Saralene (Greg) Whitaker, and Serina (Bobby Don) Morgan. His sister-in-law, Cathy Eversole and a host of other cherished family and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of over 41 years, Joyce Ann Eversole, four brothers, Eddie, Carson, Dean, and Bill Eversole; as well as two sisters-in-law, Shirley Eversole and Audrey Eversole. He was joined in death by his brother, Roscoe Eversole.
The funeral service to commemorate the Life of Jerry Eversole will be held at 12 noon Monday, December 22, 2025 at the Stinnett Church of Christ at Hoskinston, KY with Jerry’s son, Jarrod “Bub” Eversole officiating, and Bobby Don Morgan will read the obituary.
