Johnnie Wayne Lewis, born on August 18, 1956, in Dayton, OH to the union of the late Cleon and Rosie Lewis, bid farewell to the world on April 2, 2024, in Hazard, KY. He was a self-employed carpenter known for his exceptional craftsmanship in carpentry and drywall installation. Johnnie's dedication to his work was unmatched, evident in the many homes and spaces he transformed over the years.
Apart from his professional accomplishments, Johnnie had a passion for music and took great joy in working with his hands. His skills extended beyond his career and were reflected in his hobbies as well.
Johnnie is survived by his brothers, Donald Lewis of Hyden, KY, and Michael Lewis (Randi) of Dayton, OH; sisters Christine Calvert of Hoskinston, KY, and Angela Purvis (Kenneth) of Thousandsticks, KY.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his beloved parents Cleon and Rosie Lewis, his wife Arvella White Lewis, one son Randy Chase Taylor, sister Phyllis Smith, brother-in-law Charles Calvert, and sister-in-law Sophia Sophie Combs.
The visitation and funeral service to honor the life of Johnnie Wayne Lewis will be held on April 6, 2024, at Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home in Hyden, KY. The visitation will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by the funeral service from 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Purl Lewis and Roger Wolfe officiating.
Interment will follow the service at the Lewis Family Cemetery at Thousandsticks, KY with Charlie White, Joey Lewis, Dusty Purvis, Mike Lewis and Donnie Lewis serving as pallbearers.
