Kathryn E. Madden, 59, of Wooton, KY, departed this life on March 3, 2026, in Hazard, KY. Kathryn was born August 2, 1966, to the union of the late Harrison and Zella Woods Kilburn.

Kathryn was a loving wife and mother and cherished her time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and sewing in her free time. Kathryn loved flowers and enjoyed sitting on her porch. Kathryn found immense joy and companionship in her dog Mitzi.

In addition to her parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Kilburn and Blaine Kilburn, and two sisters, Nancy Kilburn and Mae F. Hurt.

Kathryn leaves behind one son, Henry Edward Madden (Tiffany) of Wooton, KY, one daughter, Joanie Ann Boggs (Allen) of Wooton, KY, two brothers, Harrison Kilburn, Jr. of Hyden, KY, and Fred Kilburn of Wooton, KY, four sisters, Lula Clark of Hyden, KY, Freda Joseph (Donnie) of Wooton, KY, Vicky Barger (Larry) of Wooton, KY, and Barbara Melton of Somerset, KY, and four grandchildren, Payden Madden, Hailey Boggs, Lucas Boggs and Preston Madden.

A funeral service to commemorate Kathryn’s life will be held at 2p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home in Hyden, KY with Jamie Roberts and Roger Wolfe officiating.

Interment will follow the services at John R. Hendrix Cemetery at Wooton, KY with Allen Boggs, Keith Barger, Derick Combs, Henry Madden, Daniel Clark, Preston Martin, and Lucas Boggs serving as pallbearers.

Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6p.m. until 9p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026 at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
