Lillian Judd, born on February 28, 1936, in Hyden, Kentucky, to the union of the late Ted and Samantha Huff Wooton. Lillian peacefully departed this life on September 22, 2025. A graduate of Leslie County High School, Lillian's early career began with a brief stint at the old Campbell Drug in Hyden. She dedicated 19 years of her working life to the National Biscuit Company in Dayton, Ohio, and later moved to Cookville, Tennessee, where she spent another 19 years at Aqua Tech.
Lillian was a devout Christian whose unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life. She actively participated in her community, particularly as a dedicated and cherished member of the Hyden Baptist Church. Her contributions were many; she sang in the choir, played a vital role in organizing and executing the yearly Vacation Bible School, and engaged with the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU), showcasing her commitment to serving others. Lillian was a faithful member of the Young At Heart Singers.
Outside of her professional and spiritual endeavors, Lillian had a passion for gardening and sewing, hobbies that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her creativity.
She is survived by her cherished sisters: Margaret Bowling of Wooton, Kentucky, Aileen Hawes (Wendell) of Louisville, Kentucky, Nadine Shepherd (Omus) of Hyden, Kentucky, and Dr. Joyce Fortney Hamburg (Jim) of South Gate, Kentucky. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved brother, Jerry Wooton (Brenda) of Hyden, Kentucky, two step-grandsons, Ricky Daniel and Jesse, and one daughter-in-law, Ann Daniel of Ohio. She will also be fondly missed by her very special double first cousins: Don Wooton of Hyden, Kentucky, Eva Ruth Morgan of Hyden, Kentucky, and Shirley Pack (Terry) of Missouri, and a special caregiver Betty Deaton. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive her.
Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Samantha Huff Wooton; her husband, Jesse C. Judd; her son Robert William; her sisters: Rose Wooton, Joanna Wooton, Betty Wooton, Mary Henderson, and Ruth Hamilton; and a sister-in-law Hazel Maynard.
A funeral service to honor Lillian's life will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11a.m. at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating and special words by Jim Judd.
Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6p.m. until 9p.m. Friday evening at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Paran Cemetery in Livingston, TN with Tim Koogler, John Wooton, PJ Muncy, Elijah Crisp, Connor Whitaker, and Austin Muncy. Honorary pallbearers being Gavin Cornelius, Devin Gross, and Sean Forney.
