Lois Jean Bell

Lois Jean Bell was born April 19, 1937, in Leatherwood, KY to the late Morris and Lucy Wooton Colwell.   Lois spent most of her adult life away working as a waitress before returning to the mountains where she would spend her final days.

Lois was of the Church of Christ faith and attended the Lower Grassy Church of Christ at Busy, KY.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting, as well as making pillows.  She also had a great love for cats and caring for their needs.

She departed this walk of life on April 01, 2023, at the Hazard Health & Rehab at the age of 85.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by four sons, Harry, Robert, Morris and Thomas Powers, one daughter, Shirley Jean Powers, one grandson, Eric  and six siblings, French, Red, Ellen, Borchmann, Loretta, and Harvey.

Lois is survived by one son, Raymond Perry of Carneys Point, NJ, one brother, Ruie Colwell & wife, Dorothy of Busy, KY, twelve grandchildren, Brad, Ashley, Nikki, Breann, Tina, Jennifer, James, Glenn, Matthew, Harry, Jr., Bryan and David.  Nine great-grandchildren, Lilly, Aubrey, MiKael, Elijah, Niasia, Thomas, Leah, Jashia, and Eliza Vianna.

The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. – Thursday, April 06, 2023 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel with Donnie Melton officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 11a.m. until the service hour at 1p.m., Thursday at the chapel.

Interment will be in the Colwell Family Cemetery at Busy, KY.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
