Mack Lewis, age 70, of Hyden, Ky went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Hazard ARH Medical Center. Born in Leslie County, he was the son of McKinley Lewis and Mary Susan Hamblin.
Mack was a Preacher for Camp Creek Church of Christ part time, and preacher and elder for Hurts Creek Church of Christ. In his time, Mack also worked as a carpenter, heavy equipment mechanic, and truck driver for the strip mines.
Besides all his hard work, Mack enjoyed beekeeping, planting a garden, raising chickens, and going fishing.
In addition to his parents McKinley and Mary Susan Lewis, Mack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Janet Lewis. He was also preceded in death by his baby sister Barbara Marie.
Survivors include: one son Jason Lewis of Hyden, Ky. One brother Josh Lewis (Beth) of Hyden, Ky. Two sisters Lucy Lewis of Hyden, Ky and Alechia Drue Lewis of Hyden, Ky. Three special nephews Hunter, Christian, and Alijah. One special niece Bella Lewis. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
The funeral service for Mack Lewis will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the funeral home chapel with Harold Turner Officiating.
Interment will follow at the Lewis Family Cemetery at Hyden, Ky with Josh Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Jefferey Hamblin, Matthew Gross, Darrell Hobbs, Rick Young, Onzie Sizemore, and Ronnie Bray serving as pallbearers. Jason Lewis serving as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the funeral home chapel.
