Mallie Turner Cress, a devoted wife, treasured mother, and loving Mamaw was born October 15, 1958 to the union of George Turner and Cora Boggs Turner. She was a life-long resident of Leslie County and resided in Yeaddiss, KY. She retired after 38 years of working in the cafeteria for the Leslie County school system. She fed generations of families and watched them grow in her many years of employment there. Her smiling face was a constant presence throughout the years. Her hard work and dedication was truly remarkable.
Mallie had a true heart of gold and was always willing to help others in need. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, going to church, yard sales, and thrift stores. She enjoyed making recipe books and writing down church songs. She also loved to sing in church and would often play the tambourine. She loved God and always held on to her faith in times of happiness and sorrow. Mallie loved caring for animals and helping them when they were unwell or unwanted. She also loved her own animals including her favorite dog, Tuffy, and her cat Fluffy.
She had an unmeasurable amount of love for her daughter and her grandchildren. She would say they are "my pride and joy, and the joy of my life". She enjoyed spending time with them all and playing games such as "Hot Potato" and "Red light, green light" with the younger ones. She was blessed to meet her first granddaughter and would sing to her "If you're happy and you know it". She was tremendously proud of each of their accomplishments. She loved all of them more than anything.
Mallie is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Jeff Cress of Slemp, KY; one daughter Tasha Kay Osborne and son-in-law Brandon of Hazard, KY. In addition, she leaves behind six precious grandchildren, Peyton Sandlin, Kolton Osborne, Hagen Osborne, Hafthor Osborne, Einar Osborne and Heidi Osborne. One sister, Mae Boggs and Junior of Yeaddiss, KY and their children Bobby Boggs and Phyllis Melton of Yeaddiss, KY. She has other family and friends who will miss her dearly as well.
Mallie was preceded in death by her parents George and Cora Turner and her five sisters Mary Turner, Alice Lewis, Sylvania Griffith, Callie Stith and Lily Caldwell. She held a special bond with her sisters Mary and Alice and adored Alice's husband Aaron.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 am - 1 pm on Monday March 2, 2026.
