Stinnett, Kentucky

Mark Thorne, of Stinnett, Kentucky passed away on July 10, 2025, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, at the age of 57. Born on February 16, 1968, in Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Dorothy Zirkle.

Mark worked most of his life as a carpenter.  He worked for many businesses over the years, including the Leslie County Detention Center. He later found fulfillment as a car detailer for both Cardinal Chevrolet and Tincher Williams Chevrolet.

Mark was known for his infectious smile and jolly demeanor. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, consistently showing up for others at any given time. This trait was obvious through his devotion to the volunteer fire dept. where he served as a firefighter.  He had numerous hobbies, deeply enjoying fishing and camping. He also enjoyed running the chains at local football games, always present to cheer on and support his children.

Mark loved his family. He held dear the moments spent during family gatherings and cookouts, surrounded by those he loved most. 

He is survived by his wife, Christie Thorne of Stinnett, KY; two sons, Joseph Anthony Wayne Thorne of Dry Ridge, KY, and Donald Lee Jacob Thorne of Morristown, TN; and one daughter, Faythann Ezabella Thorne of Stinnett, KY. Two brothers, James Thorne of Huron, OH, and William Chambers of Norwalk, OH; Two sisters, Jane Scroggy and Wanda Carpenter, both of Sandusky, OH; as well as his cherished niece, Kailyn Thorne, and nephews, Joshua Ellick, Tyler Ellick, Curtis Bartel, Asa Barror and Paul Harriet.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Zirkle; his twin sister, April Blankenship; and his sisters, Angel "Martha" Thorne and Vinnie Thorne.

He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, remembered for his unwavering support, joyful spirit, and the love he passionately shared with his family and friends.

The will be a celebration of Mark's life held by the family at a later date.
