Mary Catherine Bowling Asher

December 6, 1937 — May 6, 2025

Mary Catherine Bowling Asher was born December 06, 1937 to the union of the late Elijah and Sally Bowling.  Mary was born and raised in the Bowling Town section of Buckhorn in Perry County.  A place where she had cultivated many wonderful memories as a child and later in life would reminisce of her earlier years.

Mary was a loving & devoted mother, grandmother, sister and, friend to many.  She was a strong woman, independently raising her four children with love, nurturing care, and guidance.

Her faith was her platform from which her strength came.  Mary laid a foundation for her children built on faith, God and love.  Not only did she fulfill the role as a mother, she provided for them as well;  Good clothes, warm home cooked meals, a nice home, and most of all, a mother's love.

Mary was a devout Christian and was a dedicated member of the Hal's Fork Holiness Church at Bear Branch where she sat under the preaching of many ministers throughout the years. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and caring for her family.

Fall was Mary's favorite time of year, enjoying the autumn foliage and beauty of the mountains. Other than going to church, Mary enjoyed reading her Bible, visiting Cumberland Falls and "The Pentacle". She loved working in the Garden and harvesting for the winter.  She appreciated the beauty of flowers, especially roses.  You might say that Mary had a "Green Thumb".

While these things were important to her, the most important was her family.  Her happy place was being surrounded by her family and having them all together.

Mary departed this earthly walk of life peacefully on Tuesday, May 06, 2025 in the comfort of her home.  Mary was 87 years old.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Billy James Bowling, two brothers Forester Bowling and Kyle Bowling, two sisters Leona Bowling and Lorene Turner, as well as two special friends Mary Hoskins and Gracie Marcum.

Left behind to carry on her legacy is her four beloved children: Deborah Napier, Donna Couch (Greg), David Bowling (Theresa), and Jonah Asher (Sandra) Her cherished grandchildren Trevor Birchfield (Kaitlyn), Kenna Napier, Matthew Couch (Haven), Andrew Couch (Megan), Casey Huff (Casondra), Faith Bowling (Dillon), Tayton Asher, Cooper Asher, Christopher Gibson (Ashley), and Gary Nate.  Her cherished great grandchildren Ryder, Lucas, Marcus, Aubrey, Hunter, Gunner, Sadie Grace, and Edalyn.  Two very special friends Mary Lou Miller, and Amy Fields.  Mary also leaves behind a multitude of dear family and treasured friends.

The funeral service to commemorate Mary's life will be held at 1p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Hal's Fork Holiness Church with Demus Couch, John Whitehead, Paul Mitchell, Ben Mosley, Richard Long, and Jerry McKinley Holland officiating.
