Mossie Hoskins Charles

Mossie Hoskins Charles, of Villa Hills, Kentucky departed this walk of life, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 14, 2015 at her residence at the age of 95 years, 10 months and 25 days. Mossie was born January 19, 1920 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Lawrence and Polly Simpson Bowling. Mossie was a homemaker and a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Elwood, Indiana. Mossie had been a life-long resident of Leslie County until 1985. She later became a resident of Ohio and Indiana. Mossie was an avid quilter. She had a passion for quilting, having quilted thousands of quilts. She made many quilts for her children, grandchildren, church family and friends. Mossie loved her family and had an unconditional love for her family, friends and everyone in her life. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Other than her parents, Mossie is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Monroe Hoskins; her second husband, Cecil Charles; three brothers, Ward, Charlie and Troy Bowling; four sisters, Edna Bowling, Dorothy Bowling, Oma Jean Hoskins and Martha Napier; special friend, Lois Jones.

Mossie leaves surviving, three sons, Lawrence Samuel Hoskins (Peggy) of Indianapolis, IN, James Ray Hoskins (Linda) of Hyden, KY and James Monroe Wombles of Dayton, OH; five daughters, Mary Ruth Reynolds of Clover Dale, IN, Carol Robinson of Shelbyville, IN, June Wilder of Corbin, KY, Polly Morgan (Bobby) of Dayton, OH and Ada Marlene Vinson (Mark) of Villa Hills, KY; one brother, Raymond Bowling of Hyden, KY; two sisters, Maryland Hayes of Middletown, OH and Cookie Wise of New Albany, IN; 31 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Flat Creek Church of Brethren at Flat Creek. Burial will follow in the Sizemore Cemetery at Flat Creek. The family will receive friends for visitation after 2:00 P.M., Friday afternoon at the church.
