Mr. Ralph Adams age 89, husband of Leila Adams of Smilax, Kentucky passed away at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky on Saturday November 24, 2018. He was the son of the late Allen and Laura Quillon Adams, born December 9, 1928 in Leslie County, Kentucky. Ralph was married to Leila for 69 years. Ralph was a veteran, having served honorably in the United States Army. Ralph was a life-long resident of Leslie County and he was devoted member of the Smilax Church of Christ where he served as church treasurer for a number of years. By occupation, Ralph was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed spending time with his family, growing roses, attending church and caring for his cat, “Smokey”. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Shell, and Annette Adams; two brothers, James Clinton Adams and Allen Adams, Jr.; two brothers-in-law, John Shell, and Donald Winters, two daughters-in-law, Nona Adams, and Barbara Adams; a son-in-law, Thomas Pace and one great-granddaughter, Emma Caroline Pace.
Survivors include his devoted and beloved wife, Leila Williams Adams of Smilax, Kentucky; two sons, Burley Adams & Debbie Mullins of Smilax, Kentucky, and Doug & Wanda Adams of Wooton, Kentucky; three daughters, Virginia & Jesse Pennington of Smilax, Kentucky, Sandra & Donnie Melton of Smilax, Kentucky, and Maggie Pace Sale & Chris of Hazard, Kentucky; one sisters, Justine Winters of Owenton, Kentucky; one beloved sister-in-law, Leetha Pace of Somerset, Kentucky; along with nineteen grandchildren, Neal, Brittany, Jennifer, Kristie, Jessica, Russell, Kathy, Eddie, Angela, Thomas, Kenny, Brian, Jason, Ashley, Rhyan, Heather, Jessica, Joshua and Michelle.. Also forty great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild. A host of church family, other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of the Wolfe and Sons Funeral Home, by Danny Day, Harold Turner, and Paul Baker. Burial will follow in the Ralph Adams Cemetery at Smilax, Kentucky.. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday 6:00 - 9:00 P.M.
*Military rites will be performed by the Leslie County D.A.V. at the funeral home following the funeral service.*
