Roger W. Whitehead, age 58 of Bledsoe, Kentucky, departed this walk of life on Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN. Roger was born July 26, 1956 in Essie, Kentucky to the union of Virginia Lee Morgan Whitehead and the late Clifford Whitehead. Roger was a life long resident of Leslie and Harlan Counties. By occupation, Roger was a retired coal miner and his hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was also an avid gun trader. He is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Whitehead, and one sister, Gena Whitehead Tipton. Roger leaves surviving, his loving and devoted wife, Debbie Whitehead of Bledsoe, KY; his beloved mother: Virginia Lee Morgan Whitehead of Essie, KY; two sons: Eric Whitehead (Natasha) and Aaron Whitehead, both of Essie, KY; one daughter: Kaitlin Simpson (Waylon) of Bledsoe, KY; two brothers: Roy Lee Whitehead (Carla) of Winchester, KY, and Randy Whitehead of Essie, KY; one sister: Dianne Sizemore (Mark) of Essie, KY; two grandchildren: Madalyn Jade'Ann Whitehead, and Eric Wadon-Mikel Whitehead; also, one grandchild to be; A host of other cherished family and friends also survive his passing. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at Essie, KY, with Larry Toner and Patrick Morgan officiating. Burial will follow the services at the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, KY. The Whitehead family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home in Hyden, KY.
