Roy Lewis

Mr. Roy Lewis, age 80 of Hyden, KY, departed this walk of life on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Hazard A.R.H Medical Center. Roy was born in Hyden, Kentucky to the union of the late Charlie Lewis and the late Orpha Johnson Lewis. He was united in marriage to his loving and devoted wife, Helen Feltner on January 02, 1954. Roy worked as a coal miner for 10 years. Roy then moved to Pennsylvania to go to work for the Milton Ross Company where he worked as a supervisor for 33 years. After raising a family and retiring, in 1999, Roy and Helen moved back to Leslie County. Roy was a devoted member of the Hurts Creek Church of Christ, where he served as a Deacon. He loved serving Christ and had much faith. He enjoyed washing and waxing his vehicles, watching wrestling and "The Three Stooges". He also liked pedaling around the outdoors, riding his four wheel drive Mule with Tony & Robin, his hunting trips with his son, Gary and his dog, "Smokey". Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Other than his parents, Roy is preceded in death by: two daughters: Brenda and Diann; brothers: Seldon, Jerry, and James Lewis; one sister: Grace Lewis.

Roy leaves surviving: His loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Helen Lewis of Hyden, KY; four sons: Jerry Lewis (Janice) of Quakertown, PA., Gary Lewis (Dawn) of Trevose, PA, Timothy Lewis (Edie) of Horsham, PA, and Larry Lewis (Alice) of Perkasie, PA; one brother: Joe Lewis of Wooton, KY; five sisters: Ethel Feltner of Hyden, KY, Dixie Napier of Hyden, KY, Bessie Combs (Dennis) of Hyden, KY, Leona Hamerick (Richard) of Hyden, KY, and Anna Lee Smith (Ernest) of Corbin, KY; eight grandchildren: Tim Lewis, Jr., Mark Lewis, Marinda Hughes, Larry Lewis, Jr., Kimberly Ann Lewis, Christian Quiring, Elizabeth Singer and Joseph Lewis; seven great-grandchildren: Atte Lee Hughes, Melodi Nelly Hughes, Aidan Conner Lewis, Colin Patrick Lewis, Kalleigh Lewis, Logan Singer and Aiden Singer; a host of other family, church family and friends also survive his passing.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. - Monday, November 03, 2014 in the chapel of the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Keith Bowling and Donnie Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Branch Cemetery at Hyden, KY. The Lewis family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M. - Sunday, November 02, 2014 at the funeral home chapel.
