Sammy Lewis Sr

Mr. Sammy Lewis, Sr. of Leatherwood, KY departed this walk of life on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at the Hazard ARH Medical Center in Hazard, KY at the age of 78 years. He was Born August 30, 1934 in Leslie County, KY to the union of the late Willard and Polly Lewis. By occupation he was a mining electrician and business man. In his formative years, Sammy taught school for a year at the Lower Trace Fork School. He also worked a Ford Motor Company for some time. Sammy enjoyed fishing and hunting as hobbies. Sammy is preceded in death by his parents: Willard and Polly Lewis; Brother: Arnie Lewis and sister: Edna Hendrix; Mr. Sammy Lewis leaves surviving the following relatives: His wife, Alma Suffridge Lewis; mother of children: Mildred Lewis of Corbin, KY; 3 sons: Sam Lewis, Jr. (Emily Nichole) of Cutshin, KY, Willard T. Lewis of Cutshin, KY and Paul Suffridge (Angie) of Hoskinston, KY; 1 daughter: Amy Lewis of Berea, KY; 1 sister: Reba Baker (Vernon) of Crab Orchard, KY; 9 grandchildren: Brandon Hensley, Samuel Joseph, Josh Lewis, Jacob Sulfridge, Samantha Joseph, Darlene Maggard, Keela Lewis, Breann Suffridge and Phyllicia Stubbs. 5 great-grandchildren: Lanna Hensley, Nova Joseph, Isabelle Maggard, Keiandra Stubbs and Dalton Shepherd; Good friend: Bonita Neace; A host of other family and friends also survive his passing. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. - Wednesday, May 29, 2013 from the Cutshin Bible Church at Yeaddiss, KY. Burial will follow the services at the Lewis Cemetery at Yeaddiss, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Josh Lewis, Jacob Suffridge, Andrew Maggard, David Shepherd, Daniel Lewis and David Baker. The Lewis family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. - Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the church.
