Shirley Helen Adams

Shirley Helen Adams, 87, of Hyden, KY, departed this life on May 20, 2026 in Hazard, KY. Shirley was born on July 28, 1938, to the union of the late George and Lucy Lewis Bowling.

Shirley cherished the daily connections she made at their restaurant. Shirley also had a passion for flowers.

For many years, Shirley poured her heart into her work as the owner and cook of Goofy’s Restaurant & Game Room. Serving her community brought her great joy.

Shirley is survived by two sons, OJ Adams, Jr. of Hyden KY, and George Adams (Misty) of Hyden, KY; one brother, Calloway Bowling (Halle) of Hyden, KY; one sister, Euldean Caldwell of Wooton, KY. A host of nieces and nephews also survive her.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Owen Adams; two brothers, George Bowling, Jr. and Doug Bowling; two sisters, Stella Faye Watts and Zelma Estep.

A funeral service to commemorate the life of Shirley Adams will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home in Hyden, KY with Roger Wolfe and John Newell officiating.

Friends and family may gather for visitation from 11a.m. until the service hour at 1p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow the service at the Singleton Cemetery at Wendover, KY with Tony Morgan, Sam Morgan, Zack Morgan, Keith Barger, and Calloway Bowling serving as pallbearers.
