Sophia Salazer, age 70 of Hyden, KY passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Hazard Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Hazard, KY. Born November 19, 1939 in Leslie County, KY to the union of Boyd Edgar and Alice Joseph Day. She had been a resident of Leslie County for the past year with the exception of having lived in Florida and Phoenix, Arizona. By occupation she was a secretary for the Phoenix Sheriff's Department. She was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed playing bingo and fishing as her hobbies. She is preceded in death by her parents; Two Sons: James Wells and Roger Turner; Six Brothers: Everett, Bill, Melvin, Donald, Alex and Junior Day. Two sisters: Rosie Mae Lewis and Bonnie Jean Day; Grandson: Austin Clyde Lee Turner and Special Friend: Elmer Turner. She leaves the following surviving: Three Sons: Clyde Wells and Donna of Yeaddiss, KY; Bennie Lee Wells and Bobbi of Somerset, KY and Homer Lee Turner of Florida. One sister: Ophia Carolyn Lewis and Bennie. Seven Grandchildren: April Brock, Michelle Wells, Christopher Wells, Chance Turner, Justin Wells, Dustin Wells and Roger Turner. Two great grandchildren: Hope and Randall Brock. A host of many other relatives and friends also survive.
