Teresa Day, of Wooton, KY was born on November 16, 1954, in Hyden, Kentucky, the third child born to the late Junior Gibson and Lois Campbell Fugate. Teresa passed away peacefully on September 13 2024, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, KY at the age of 69.
Throughout Teresa's life, she had a deep love for people, a career in various fields, and a strong faith that guided her throughout her life. Teresa was a beautiful soul. She was held in high regard by all who knew her. She was so many things for so many people; She could be described as a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, advisor, peace maker, and problem solver.
Teresa was a selfless and caring person. No matter the trials and tribulations she may have been facing on her own, she was always caring for others. Her infectious smile and sense of humor was a comfort to those feeling down and out.
Teresa had a very diverse career, Teresa wore many hats. She was a skilled salesperson and held management positions in different capacities. A long-time consultant for Avon, she worked diligently to rise through the ranks to become an assistant manager. Additionally, she had a significant career in healthcare that spanned many years, serving as a phlebotomist for the Central Kentucky Blood Center in Hazard. Teresa's commitment to her work was evident.
She was a graduate of Leslie County High School and furthered her qualifications by obtaining her CMA certification and becoming a certified phlebotomist.
Teresa was a person that loved people. It seemed that no matter the time or place, she would always encounter someone she knew, and she enjoyed these moments of visiting and conversation. Her love for life extended to her family and friends, with whom she cherished spending time.
Teresa had many things she enjoyed throughout her life. Camping, bike riding, basketball, softball, and crocheting were some of her favorites. She also enjoyed cooking. She was a seasoned cook, and always found happiness in cooking for others. Above all, she cherished the time spent with family and friends. She particularly enjoyed family game night, UNO was her favorite!
Being the beloved grandmother she was, her grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed being involved in all aspects of their life. Whether it was fishing, playing video games, or just simply throwing rocks in the creek, she was there. She was a proud supporter of anything they were involved with. She could always be found in the stands cheering them on during their sporting events.
In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her step father, Sam Fugate, maternal grandparents, Bige and Eula Campbell, a very special grandson Austin Carmack, two brothers, Jimmy Ray Gibson and Larry Fugate, and three sisters, Judy Blount, Glenda Fields, and Tonda Napier.
She leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Robert Day of Wooton, KY, and two cherished daughters, Robin Carmack (Joey) of Wooton, KY, and Kimberly Morgan (Kyle) of Richmond, KY. Teresa is also survived by her two sisters, Linda Stidham (Junior) of Hazard, KY, and Cynthia Johnson (Johnny Ray) of Smilax, KY. Two treasured grandchildren, Blake Morgan (Tiffany) and Chelsea Hoskins (Colby), and a loving aunt to a host of nieces and nephews, along with many dear family and friends.
Teresa loved the Lord and found joy in attending church services, as well as watching preaching on television when she could not be there in person. Her faith was an inspiration and comfort to all of those around her. She was an avid prayer warrior. Her most quoted Bible verse was Matthew 18;19-20. "Again I say to you that if all of you agree on earth concerning anything they ask, it will be done by my Father in Heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there in the midst of them."
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and dear friend to many.
The funeral service to commemorate the life of Teresa Day will be held at 2p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Joe Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow the services at the Combs Cemetery at Hyden, KY with Kyle Morgan, Joey Carmack, Larry Wayne Fugate, Gary Fugate, Blake Morgan, and Aiden Fugate serving as pallbearers.
Friends and family may gather for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
