Viola (Howard) Adams

Viola Adams was born January 08, 1942, in Hyden, KY to the union of the late Alonzo and Orpha Young Howard.

Viola was a homemaker and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County.  Viola loved the Lord and enjoyed going to church.  She also enjoyed her dog, “Buddy”, watching television, going on drives, and listening to gospel music.  Above all, she enjoyed family gatherings and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Viola departed this walk of life on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the age of 81.

In addition to her parents, Viola was preceded in death by, her husband of 61 years, Clifton Adams, a beloved daughter, Carolyn Adams, a cherished grandson, Daniel Lee Adams, two brothers, Eugene Howard and William Howard, as well as four sisters, Vanda Jean Howard, Virginia Cox, Phronia Begley and Betty Griffith.

Survivors include three sons, Clifton Adams, Jr. (Joan) of Hyden, KY, Victor Adams (Willa) of Hyden, KY, and Ed Adams (Becky) of Gurley, AL.  Five brothers, Paul Howard (Carolyn) of Hyden KY, Alonzo “Bug” Howard, Jr. of Hyden, KY, James Edward Howard (Patty) of Newport, KY, Robert Rowland Howard of Hyden, KY, and Bennie Carol Howard (Nancy) of Newport, KY.  One sister, Juanita Lewis of Hyden, KY, seven cherished grandchildren, Bryan Adams (Kristen), Joshua Adams (Elizabeth), Rebecca Adams, Travis Adams, Jordan Adams, Zach Adams, and Nathan Adams.  One cherished great-granddaughter, Millie Adams.  A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

The funeral service for Viola Howard Adams will be held at 1p.m. – Saturday, September 16, 2023 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.

Interment will follow in the Clifton Adams Cemetery at Hyden, KY with Grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11a.m until the service hour at 1p.m., Saturday at the chapel.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
