Wanda Morgan Smith

October 26, 1934 — September 13, 2015

Wanda Morgan Smith, age 80 of Essie, Kentucky, the widow of the late Rufus Smith passed away Sunday, September 13, 2015 in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Wanda was born in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Lee & Eura Morgan. She was a homemaker, and had been a life-long resident of Leslie County. Wanda was a member of the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church, where she had attended faithfully for many years. Wanda enjoyed, going to church, gardening and spending time with her family.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Eura Morgan; loving & devoted husband, Rufus Smith and one son, James Smith.

Survivors include: daughters, Charlene Smith of Nicholsville, Kentucky, and Karen Dettman (Dann) of Cynthiana, Kentucky; two brothers: Junior Ray Morgan (Claudette) of Essie, Kentucky, Berlin Morgan (Rose) of Essie, Kentucky; two sisters, Ida Brock of Stinnett, Kentucky, and Wilma Roberts of Essie, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Brittany Lewis, Chris Baker, Scott Smith, Robin Baker, and Patrick Smith; seven great grandchildren, Ashley Baker, Tyler Newell, Christopher Baker, Tevis Newell, Bailey Smith, Bella Smith, and Bristol Smith. A host of other relatives and friends her passing.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday September 17, 2015 at the Upper Grassy Branch Pentecostal Church at 2:00 P.M. with Patrick Morgan, John Pugh, Everette Eads, and Tim Finley officiating.
Burial will follow in the Albert Morgan Cemetery at Essie, Kentucky. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 6:00 - 10:00 P.M.
