Everett Mitchell, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2019.

He was born on May 24, 1946 in Leslie County, KY to the late Lester and Gracie (Coots) Mitchell. Everett relocated to Indianapolis in 1965. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2008 after 38 years of service. He was a dedicated worker and loved Ford cars, especially classic cars. Everett was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed feeding squirrels, rabbits and hummingbirds. He loved to travel, especially cruises; and relished any opportunity to make friends at local restaurants.

Everett is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Carol Ann Hafer Mitchell; sons, Brian Keith Mitchell and Glenn Allen Mitchell, both of Shelbyville; daughter, Kimberly Kay (Dusty) Forgue of Logansport; 7 grandchildren, Ashley, Steven, Daniel, Jacob, Katrina, Eva, Rose; and 2 great-grandchildren. Everett is also survived by his step-mother, Rose Mitchell; brothers, David (Christine) Mitchell, Lonis (Marie) Mitchell, Larry (Mavie) Mitchell, Jeff Mitchell; sisters, Ann Mitchell, Dallie (Carl) Maggard, Kathy Shepherd; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers. Everett also leaves behind his favorite feline companion, Yogi. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, George Mitchell, Pauline Cress and Betty Miniard.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2-6pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral services will take place the following day at 1pm, also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com
