Gary Maggard

Gary Maggard was born May 12, 1962, in Perry County, Kentucky to the union of Carl Maggard and the late Lois Maggard.  By occupation, Gary was a retired coal miner.  He had been a life-long resident of Leslie County and was residing at Wooton, KY at the time of his passing.  Gary was a member of the Hyden Church of God, Hyden, KY.  Gary was united in marriage to Charlotte Couch on August 21, 2009 in Hyden, KY.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman.  Before retirement, Gary enjoyed his job in the coal mines and took great pride in being a miner.  Above all, Gary cherished the time spent with his family and serving the Lord.  Gary departed this life on Tuesday, June 08, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.  Gary was 59 years old.

In addition to his mother, Gary was preceded in death by his first wife, Clarietta; two stepsons, Brian and Jeff Hacker; one brother, Wendell Maggard.

Gary leaves behind his loving and devoted wife, Charlotte Maggard of Wooton, KY, his beloved father, Carl Maggard, and one daughter, Tracie A. Cook & husband Kevin “Calvin” of Wooton, KY.  Other survivors include, four beloved sisters, Patti Adams & her husband, Ronnie, whom Gary thought of as a brother, Helen Hensley & husband, Terry of Smilax, KY, Jean Miller & husband, Jerry of Middletown, OH and Carl Maggard & wife, Dallie of Slemp, KY, two cherished grandchildren, Allie “ICook” Cook and Ryan “Bub” Cook,  cousin, Danny Cox whom he thought of like a brother, special friend, Everett Begley, five nephews, two nieces, a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. – Saturday at the Hyden Church of God with Pastor Wayne Bowling and David Pennington officiating.  Interment will follow the services at the Howard Cemetery at Hyden, Kentucky.  The Maggard family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. – Friday evening at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
