Johnny Bruce Maggard

Johnny Bruce Maggard was born July 12, 1960 in Hyden, Kentucky to Audrey Morgan Maggard and the late Benjamin Maggard.  Johnny was a Leslie County native and by occupation he worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Green on April 12, 1980 at the Muncy Creek Baptist Church.  Johnny was a part of the “4 Musketeers” which included, Johnny, Lige Sizemore, Randy Rice and Larry Pace.  He was an active & dedicated member of the Masonic Order, Hyden Lodge # 664 as well as the Shriners.  He dedicated much of his time to fundraisers and other events for the Shriners and the lodge.  Johnny enjoyed fishing, going to church and attending the annual Osborne Brothers Bluegrass Festival.  His favorite place was the ocean and liked to visit often with his family.  Above all, Johnny was a family man.  He loved his family and loved being involved in their lives.  Johnny especially loved to watch Sawyer play baseball.  He was his biggest fan!

He departed this life on Monday, May 03, 2021 at the age of 60.

In addition to his father, Johnny was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Orlena & Jonathan Maggard, maternal grandparents, Bruce & Callie Morgan, mother-in-law, Marella Green and a special uncle, Lance Morgan.

Johnny leaves behind, his loving & devoted wife of 41 years, Shirley Maggard of Hyden, KY and to their union, four beloved children, Audrey Rosanna Tubbs & Jason of Ballground, GA, Amanda Renee Maggard & Robert Smith, William Joseph Maggard & Jaclyn and Callie Hope Maggard all of Hyden, KY; his beloved mother, Audrey Morgan Maggard of Hyden, KY; one brother, Andrew Maggard & Darlene of Hyden, KY, two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Sizemore & Lige and Amy Calena Sizemore & David, both of Bear Branch, KY;  eleven cherished grandchildren, Dalton, Trent, Tayden, Sawyer, Ethan, Cameron, Hannah, Payton, Morgan, Charley and Tanner and one great-grandchild to be.  Other survivors include a special cousin he loved like a brother, Little Dave Maggard; special nephew, Wayne Maggard, special friends, Ronnie Gay, Tommy Roberts, Lige Sizemore, Roger Smith, Don Robinette, Homer Stidham, Mary Sumpter, Roger Fields, and Christina Cosgrove, Donnie Asher, Ace Gilbert, and Jason Madden..  Johnny also leaves behind at host of Shriner & Masonic brothers to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. – Thursday, May 06, 2021 in the chapel of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Wolfe officiating.  Interment will follow the services in the Morgan – Maggard Cemetery at Hyden, Kentucky. The family will receive friends for visitation after 6 p.m. – Wednesday evening at the funeral home chapel with Masonic Rites performed at 7 p.m. by the Leslie County Masonic Lodge # 664.

The following will serve as pallbearers:

Andrew Maggard, Steven Sizemore, Dalton Adams, Trent Adams, Daniel Sizemore, Isaiah Moore, Taydon Clark, Ethan Fields, Cameron Fields and Charlie Green.

Honorary Pallbearers will be:

Lige Sizemore, Ronnie Gay, Tommy Roberts, David Sizemore, Dakota Morgan and Jason Madden.
