Karen (Bray) Gilbert

November 20, 1957 — September 15, 2022

Stinnett, Kentucky

Karen Gilbert, 64, of Stinnett, KY departed this walk of life on Thursday, September 15, 2022.  Karen was born November 20, 1957, in Leslie Co., KY to the union of the late Early and Margaret Whitehead Bray.

Karen had been a life-long resident of Leslie Co.  She was raised on Greasy Creek at Chappell, KY and was residing at Stinnett, KY at the time of her passing.  Karen was united in marriage to Roger Gilbert on September 12, 1982.  She raised three sons and loved without hesitation.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  She was more than a mother to just her three sons, but a mother to many.  In Karen’s words “I don’t know how many kids I’ve got!”  Not only did they feel her loving motherly role in their lives but loved them back in the same motherly fashion as she did her own children.  She was always supportive of her children and friends, no matter the situation.  Her opinion was honest and unquestioned, but her love was loyal and undying.

Karen enjoyed life to it’s fullest.  She enjoyed the outdoors, particularly riding ATVs, fishing and her favorite, camping with friends and family.  To find Karen in her “Happy Place”, you would find her around a campfire near a camper, and a crowd of friends and family.  This is what Karen loved most.

Karen professed her faith in her savior Jesus Christ and was baptized at the Stinnett Church of Christ where she and her husband, Roger became beloved members.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by a beloved niece, Veronica Hubbard and beloved nephew, John Joseph.

Karen leaves behind the following relatives:  her loving & devoted husband of 40 years, Roger Gilbert of Stinnett, KY, three beloved sons, Kevin Bray (Niki), Kyle Nantz (Heather) and Wesley Gilbert (Gwen).  Other survivors include, one brother, Stanley Bray (Malena) of TN, one sister, Kathryn Joseph (Allen) of London, KY, three cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Danielle and Katelynn.  One very special life-long friend, Jim Estridge.  Karen leaves behind a multitude on other cherished friends and family.

A funeral service for Karen will be held at 12 noon Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the Stinnett Church of Christ with Coy Duff and Keith Bowling officiating.

Interment will follow the services at the Gilbert Family & Friends Cemetery at Stinnett, KY with Wesley Gilbert, Kyle Nantz, Kevin Bray, Kevin Cook, Ryan Cook and Jay Adams serving as pallbearers.

The family of Karen Gilbert will receive friends at the church after 6p.m., Saturday evening.
