Marie (Morgan) Deaton

December 3, 1940 ~ August 9, 2022 (age 81)


Marie Morgan Deaton was born December 3, 1940 in Hyden, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Shafter Morgan Sr. and Alma Cornett Morgan. She was united in marriage to Earl Ray Deaton who preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children, Jewell Fugate and boy friend Earl Philpot of London, Kentucky, Elaine Pollard of Hyden, Edna Lewis and husband Anthony of Hebron, Kentucky; two siblings, Effie Muncy and Carlos Morgan both of Hyden; seven grandchildren, Brandon Wilson and wife Leanne, Rebecca Dalrymple and husband Richard, Blake Kemper and wife Brooke, Justin Kemper and wife Heather, Aaron Fugate, Johnny Ray Fugate and wife Kelsey, and Hannah Fugate; eleven great-grandchildren, Emily Sizemore, Jordan Dalrymple, Bella Grace, Keira Nicole Wilson, Ezra Cole Wilson, Jaxtyn Kemper, Myles–Ryan Kemper, Waylon Kemper, Grayson Fugate, Cooper Fugate, Tatum Dalrymple; plus a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends to mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by a son-in-law Michael Pollard; nine siblings, Eugene Morgan, Daymon Morgan, Eula Caldwell, Lester Morgan, Norman Morgan, Clifton Morgan, Patrick Morgan, Hazel Bowling, and Shafter Morgan Jr.

She worked in Customer Service in retail, secretary and as a waitress. Most recently Marie was the owner of MD Trucking for which she retired. She was a member of Mill Street Church of Christ.

Marie Morgan Deaton departed this life Tuesday, August 9, 2022 being 81 years, 8 months, and 6 days of age.

Funeral services for Marie Morgan Deaton will be conducted Friday at 12 noon, in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Donnie Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Swiss Colony Cemetery.

The family of Marie Morgan Deaton will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home 6:00 pm on Thursday.
